A minor used Crossmint with my card

Last updated: September 21, 2026

We know this is a stressful situation. Here is what our policy is, what we will do, and the fastest way to get it resolved. Start with your bank: it decides any refund. Card payments on Crossmint are verified with your bank through 3D Secure at checkout, and your bank can see that verification when it reviews your dispute.

Our age policy

Crossmint's services are only available to people aged 18 or over. Apps that use Crossmint for their card payments have their own age rules, but purchases made through Crossmint by a minor are not permitted. When we identify an account belonging to a minor we close it, so no further purchases can be made through Crossmint.

What to do

  1. Secure the card and devices. Remove the card from Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App or the app where it is stored, and turn on purchase approval on shared devices (Ask to Buy on iOS, purchase authentication on Android).
  2. Contact your bank. Report the charges as not authorized by the cardholder and ask whether they will open a dispute. Any refund is decided by your bank.
  3. Contact the app's support team. The tokens your child bought are in the wallet inside the app they used (for example a fintech or trading app). The app controls that account and can close it; Crossmint only sees the payment.

What happens next

  • We confirm whether the charges came through Crossmint and which orders were made.
  • We review the account and, when it belongs to a minor, close it for further Crossmint purchases.
  • We keep the transaction records available for your bank.

Refunds: tokens are delivered on a public blockchain to the wallet inside the app the moment an order completes, so Crossmint cannot take them back. Any refund is decided by your bank through the dispute process; we provide your bank with the order data they need.

Please allow up to 10 business days for your bank to remove a pending hold. A hold for a payment that did not complete is released by your bank, on its own schedule (most release it within 3–10 business days). Crossmint cannot remove it, cancel it or speed it up: there is no captured payment on our side to refund. If it is still there after 10 business days, contact your bank; if your bank needs it, we can confirm in writing that nothing was captured.
